HISTORY

E.L.Sibbles Limited was founded in 1950 by Edmund (Ted) L. Sibbles, who had extensive experience in the shipping and forwarding industry, and commenced life as a shipping and forwarding agent with liner agencies for Portugal and the Mediterranean, The Company is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire and was one of the founder members of the British International Freight Association (BIFA) – registered No:0018 – and trades under their Standard Trading Conditions (2005).

As the company grew it took on additional staff and one of Ted’s sons – Michael, joined the company after leaving school. Later on Ted’s other son – Tony – joined the company, having previously worked in distribution for Rowntree Mackintosh. Eventually, Ted Sibbles retired and the then Managing Director – Roy S. Bennett – retired early through ill health.

Mike and Tony then took over the reigns of the company as Joint Managing Directors and have seen the company develop into an international logistics provider. The Company sought and achieved accreditation to the International Quality Standard ISO 9001:2000 and have held accreditation through BVQI Ltd for over ten years. Similarly, the airfreight department have achieved DETR listing as a Security Agent meeting the necessary stringent requirements – Listed Agent No.226.

Many of the staff that now work in the company have worked for the company for many years, several since leaving school. They are all trained to the highest standards and customers can be assured of experienced and knowledgeable staff who can handle all cargo enquiries including hazardous cargo – three staff having undertaken Dangerous Goods Awareness courses run by BIFA.

All of this means that customers can rely on the company to provide them with a service that is consistent, cost effective and reliable
